Creating Inexpensive Gifts With Coffee Mugs
Candy
If the person on your list loves sweets, then consider taking a lovely coffee mug and filling it with his or her favorites. You can fill the large coffee mug with candy, wrap tissue paper or cellophane wrap around it, secure it with a bow, and be finished. This is an adorable idea for teachers or church members. It is inexpensive and you can even choose mugs that depict the recipient’s favorite hobby or color. Besides, everyone loves a little candy during the holidays. For an extra special treat, consider making your own homemade candy for the gift.Coffee
As ironic as it may sound, sometimes coffee is the best gift to give within a coffee mug. For a friend who can’t resist gourmet coffee, this can be a quick and easy gift idea. Consider adding a specialty spoon along for extra flair as well.

If you are giving a gift card this season and want to find a way to make it a little more interesting, consider putting it inside a coffee mug. You can fill the mug with a little tissue at the bottom and then place the gift card inside. You can also use shredded confetti tissue for filler. Decaffeinated Coffee - Coffee Bean Nutrition
We’re all concerned about our health and for good reason. Consuming too many fatty foods or drinking too much caffeine can cause serious health problems. Many people are turning to decaffeinated coffee as a way to get their morning cup of java without the side effects of the stimulant.
One of the problems, in the past, with coffee that is low or free of caffeine has been the process used to remove the substance. For many years a form of solvent was used to soak the coffee beans in order to make the decaf coffee.
The health effects of this procedure were called into question by medical professionals. They suggested that people who were drinking decaffinated coffee were absorbing these solvents into their bodies. Some individuals even went so far as to suggest that drinking decaffeinated coffee led to cancer.
Leaving the beans to soak in a solution of solvent was viewed as unhealthy, so many people instead turned back to regular coffee. They traded the idea of drinking something lower in stimulants for drinking caffeinated coffee, simply because they were afraid of the chemicals used in the decaffeination process.
Today’s coffee makers are using much safer methods of removing the caffeine from the beans. One new and effective method involves soaking the beans in Swiss water. The water naturally removes the caffeine, leaving beans that are low in caffeine and not filled with unhealthy chemicals.
The easiest way to tell if you are drinking a healthy decaf coffee is to look at the label. Many coffee companies now use labels that contain information on how the caffeine is removed from the beans. If it says it’s a naturally decaffeinated coffee you can be fairly certain that only a natural process was used to take the caffeine out of the beans.
Taste is often the biggest hurdle for diehard coffee drinkers. If you are accustomed to the taste of regular coffee, it’s going to take some adjustment for your taste buds to welcome the difference. Some individuals find that if they slowly switch from regular dark roast to a decaf coffee, that it’s easier. Perhaps mixing half of each together for a few days, before increasing the portion of decaffeinated coffee, and decreasing the regular would help with the switch over.
Healthy eating often means making some changes in your diet. If coffee is one of those changes, consider that the less caffeine you’ve got in your system, the better. Finding a satisfying brand of decaffeinated coffee can be a challenge, but when you do, you won’t miss the stimulant at all. You’ll just be enjoying the taste of a great cup of java.

3 Must Have Keurig Coffee Storage Accessories
If you own a Keurig machine then you know how amazing this machine is and how much it simplifies making coffee in the morning. The Keurig is a fantastic machine for making good coffee super fast. While the machine itself looks awesome sitting on your counter, who wouldn't want the accessories that go along with it, right? It's OK to have the boxes of K-cups stacked on top of each other but its not pleasing to the eye and takes away from the aesthetics of having your Keurig on the counter. Take a look at the 5 recommendations below and tell me if you'd love to have this on your counter as well.
K-Cup Carousel Tower
This is really contemporary look holder that compliments any decor when it comes to organizing your k-cups. Each side of the tower holds 15 K-cup varieties. It's very compact and sturdy with a cleaner look than some of the other k-cup holders. You can even pick this up and walk it over to the table for dessert and watch the eyes of your guests light up as they spin to choose from there favorite coffee, tea or hot chocolate. If you buy just one of these then you can have a "his" side and "her" side, but why stop at just one carousel, buy two instead and make one yours and one his!K-Cup Storage Drawer
The K-cup storage drawer may also be your answer to an uncluttered coffee area. Your able to sit your Keurig coffee machine on top and have an easily accessible drawer right under machine. It is very nice and durable and has a slip resistant top. Just keep in mind that this will raise the Keurig machine about 3.25 inches so make sure before you purchase that you have enough space under your counter. However you don't have to put the coffee maker on top. You could sit it next to your coffee machine and store your other coffee related items on top such as coffee mugs, creamer, sugar etc. This drawer can store 36 k-cups inside. Under Cabinet K-cup Holder
If you don't like to have a lot of kitchen counter clutter then you'll want like this. It hides nice and neat under your cabinet out of site until you are ready to use it. Mounting this to your cabinet is a breeze, it comes with screws or mounting adhesive but you'll want to use the adhesive just to hold it in place while you screw it into your cabinets. Once installed only the very bottom of the k-cups are visible when closed up. This another one of those items that you'd probably want to purchase at least 2 or 3 of them because it only holds 24.
There are so many varieties of k-cups that having 6-7 different boxes on your cabinet or even stored in your cabinet can be cumbersome. Hopefully, these 3 recommendations give you an idea of how you can clean up your coffee area while also making it look modern and stylish.
Boot Camp for Coffee Drinkers
Ok, so we go to a local coffee house and we order cappuccinos, café mochas, lattes and espressos. It isn’t the paper cups that make these drinks taste so good. It’s the recipe and of course the prettiness factor. Baristas all have a style of their own and every cup will taste different because of the roast, the grind, the amount used, the water, the temperature and many other things. We have all tried to make these coffee delights at home the way we think they are made, but do we really know the real way they are supposed to be made to extract the enchanting flavors correctly? Here is a quick list of how to make the basic drinks. This is boot camp for coffee drinkers.
Cappuccino: Equal parts of steamed and frothed milk and espresso. The milk goes on top of the espresso. Dust with nutmeg, cinnamon or chocolate powder or shavings.
Café Mochas: The easiest way is to use a good brand of hot chocolate, throw in a shot of espresso and top with whipping cream and chocolate powder or shavings. It looks the best if you put it in a tall glass and use a long handled spoon. For a finishing touch add a saucer and a napkin. Or make a latte and toss in a chocolate flavored shot.
Lattes: Foam & steam milk to 140-degrees. The ratio is 50% espresso and 50% milk. Pour the milk down the side of the cup so it infuses with the espresso. The difference between this and a cappuccino is a latte blends the two things together, whereas the cappuccino keeps them separate.
Espressos: We’ve all had bad espresso. There are many reasons why this is. The number one reason is an unfavorable bean. If you like espresso you are likely a connoisseur of coffee and know what constitutes a good bean. Anyway, to make a good espresso you must do the following:
- Use a fine grind
- You must tamp the espresso down firmly
- You must use a high pressure machine or stove top model
- You must not try to make too much at once
- You must see the creama on the top, which is a golden-brown foam
- You must use an appropriate espresso cup to keep the temperature from dissipating too quickly
All in all, making coffee correctly is all up to you and the way your flavor buds react to the taste. If you like it a particular way, then make it that particular way. However, if you have guests over they may just like the basics. So do yourself a favor and learn the correct way to make lattes and espressos.
Are you a Gourmet Coffee Drinker?
What Exactly Is Gourmet Coffee?
A cup of gourmet coffee is a relatively new idea. Gourmet coffee is usually only made from Arabica beans, which are usually the coffee beans with the fullest flavors. The general average jar of coffee which you buy in supermarkets is made using a mixture of beans using low grade Brazilian coffee beans and Robusta beans. They also add a small amount of the Arabica coffee beans to ensure a nicer flavor than using just the low grade beans. Also the lower grade beans contain more caffeine than the others. Usually, gourmet coffee is roasted at the plant and makes it into the consumer’s hands within a week. You can buy pre-ground gourmet coffee, but the preferred way to buy it is while it is still in its bean form. The beans can usually be ground at the store you buy them from. Commercial coffee is also usually not as fresh.
Commercial coffee is pre-ground before it is packaged. After packaging it can take several weeks to actually make it to a grocery store. Usually, the longer pre-ground commercial coffee sits on a shelf waiting to be purchased, the staler and bitter it will become. Generally, the biggest advantage of commercial coffee is that it is cheap compared to some types of gourmet coffee. The two most important things to remember when looking for gourmet coffee is that it is fresher and has more flavor than the commercial jars of coffee. Another important point to remember with gourmet coffee, is that you can choose where the coffee beans have come from and also know how it has been roasted.
If you have yet to try a cup of gourmet coffee, you will not be disappointed. You will be spoiled for choice in the world of gourmet coffee, give it a try. You can find small bags so that if you decide you don’t like that particular variety, you don’t have a 10 pound can in your kitchen still full of coffee. So give gourmet coffee a try, and if you find it is not to your liking you can always revert back to your old ways!
